Why is there a decrease hemoglobin and HDL in CVA cases?

Low levels of HDL is a risk for atherosclerosis, or narrowing of blood vessels. HDL has been termed the 'good' cholesterol and can reverse and prevent the clogging of arteries.

Some CVA cases are caused by atherosclerosis. So it makes since that HDL levels are low. But it isn't the CVA that causes the low HDL, rather the other away around.

Low hemoglobin is also a risk factor for CVA, but I'm not sure why. But just as HDL can increase the risk of CVA, hemoglobin can as well.
