What kind of cases does the Supreme Court take on?

need help with homework!!!!What kind of cases does the Supreme Court take on?
They hear cases that involve Federal Law (including the Constitution). They receive a gazillion briefs per year from lawyers who want their cases decided by the Supremes, and choose the ones that they will hear (I believe five votes out of nine gets you in).

All appeals courts rule on the validity of a trial, they do not retry cases.

Each state has a Supreme court (or the equivalent) which is the highest appelate court in that state.

The Federal court system has districts (12) which hear cases that fall under Federal jurisdiction.

As far as I know anyone (or their lawyer) can petition the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case, but the Supremes will decide what to put on their docket. What kind of cases does the Supreme Court take on?
the right to carry gun's, the right to abort babies, constitutional conflicts like that.
Cases in which Constitutionality is involved or the United States is the defendant
