When creating a pet shop in sims 2 pets how do you get dogs and cats for the display cases?

The pets will show up in the case when the sim goes to the store. Then when your sim goes to buy the pet they can chose what kind of dog or cat - you will need a display case for cats and one for dogs. Now I haven't tried having a sim run pet store - but I would think it would be the same.
